How can I be entitled to the Certified Software Tester certificate?
In order to win the title, you must successfully pass the ITCB certification exams.
The certification exam takes place several times a year at the ITCB’s national exam center.
In order to pass the test you must acquire professional knowledge in the field of testing, and be familiar with the basics and work processes of software testing.
More information regarding the exam schedule can be found on the exam page on this website.
Where can I find more information regarding certification?A large portion of the ITCB website is dedicated to describing the benefits of certification.
The website has information regarding the study plan, the exams, the certified training providers and more.
Additionally, the ITCB website refers you to the website of the ISTQB. This site contains information regarding the international organization and its activities.
How can a training provider receive certification for its study materials? The ITCB has procedures regarding certifying study materials.
These procedures can be found on the “procedures” page, under “How to become a Certified Training Provider”.
Is there anyone to consult?Certainly!
The ITCB is prepared to answer any of your questions.
You can contact us by phone, fax or email.
Our contact details can be found on the “Contact us” page of this website.
In case of failing the test, can I review it to see what went wrong? No. the test is confidential and cannot be viewed or reviewed after submitting it to the examiner. When is the next exam taking place?Updated information regarding the dates and exams can be found on the ITCB’s website, under the “Certification Exams” section. What is the duration of the tests, and is an extension possible?60 minutes are allotted for examinees in Hebrew, and 75 minutes for those taking the test in English. Extension periods are not possible, except for exceptional cases.
In those special cases, one must contact the ITCB in advance in order to receive approval.
What is the structure of the test and what is a passing grade? For the foundation level – a multiple choice questionnaire, there are 40 questions where you must choose one out of four possible answers. 60 minutes allowed. No help material. The passing grade is above 65% (at least 26 correct answers).
The advanced level – multiple choice test, there are 65 questions, where one must choose several correct answers for each question. 180 minutes allowed. No help material. The passing grade here too is above 65%.
How do I receive my grade?According to the exam center’s procedures, the grade is sent – within 3 weeks of the exam – to your personal email account (according to the email entered on the exam registration form). Is the grade also sent directly to the company (in case of an ordered exam)? When the exam is paid for by an examinee’s company, the company has the right to request the grades as well. In any case, the grade will be delivered to the personal mail supplied on the registration form, while the company will receive it only in case of an explicit request. What is the exam fee, and are there discounts for students? The price of the exam varies from time to time; please check the site for updates.
Because of the low cost in comparison to other countries, no discounts are given.
Organized groups of over 20 examinees can submit a request for a discount to the ITCB’s operations manager, under the “Contact us” section. (For prices – see the “Certification Exams” section, under “Prerequisites and prices”.)
If I failed the test, can I retake it?There is no limit to the number of exams which can be taken. You must check the website for exam dates, and verify with the ITCB whether there is a new exam for someone who failed. How do I receive the certificate after acquiring a passing grade in the exam? The framed diploma will be sent to the training provider or to the requesting company’s address, provided that more than 5 employees received certification.
Also, the diploma can be sent by registered mail anywhere – without the frame.
Is any help material allowed in the exams? No, except for a printed dictionary. No computerized dictionaries allowed.
When registering to the exam, one may choose a language – English or Hebrew. Notice the different exam dates for the different languages.
Your choice cannot be changed on the day of the exam.
My QuestionDoes everyone take the same exam? No. the questions are taken from a large bank of questions, therefore the exams are constantly changing. But the level of the tests remains the same. Which chapters should I prepare better for the exam? The questions are taken from across the learning material; therefore one can be sure there will be questions regarding all issues. We recommend studying all the material printed in the syllabus. Still, the number of questions and their difficulty level are derived from the definitions of study time and knowledge level required for each chapter, as described in the syllabus. What about disqualification of an exam?An examinee whose exam is disqualified due to cheating or misconduct, shall be expelled from any certification exams for the next 6 months, and won’t be entitled to a monetary refund. |
